Is it good or bad for a centrifugal air compressor to operate at 100% load? If it’s not good, what load level is more economical to operate at?
The 100% load mentioned by the poster refers to the load on the engine unit, I believe. As long as the engine unit is efficient, operates smoothly, and all parameters remain within the specified limits, it can definitely operate at that load for a long time. If what the original poster is referring to is the motor load, then there is a problem. It is best to reduce the load appropriately; generally, maintaining it at 80%~90% is more suitable.
100% load is the optimal operating condition for design, and of course it’s the best. The normal design load ranges from 75% to 105%, but 100% represents the optimal operating condition for design purposes.
