Height of the crude phenol distillation column

Our plant processes 75,000 tons of tar, and the associated crude phenol distillation column has a diameter of 400 and a height of 5,700. However, the phenol content in crude phenol remains at 70–75%, and now there is suspicion that the height of the distillation column may not be sufficient. I’m asking the colleagues in other departments – yours is really high.
The height is not an issue. The main function of the distillation column is to remove water and neutral oils from crude phenol; you can check the phenol content in the water and oil that comes out – as long as it’s within normal ranges, that’s fine. Then examine the washing section to identify the root cause of the problem.
The height is sufficient; perhaps the sodium content is moderate and the phenol content is low
