May I ask whether the inner bag of your fertilizer packaging is sewn together with the outer bag, or is the inner bag wrapped separately before the outer bag is sewn on? Recently, some of our fertilizers that have been stored for several months have developed clumping due to moisture absorption (even though anti-caking agents were used). It is likely that the sealing of the inner bag was not proper. Currently, we use a method where the inner bag and outer bag are sewn together, and pinholes remain after sewing; over time, air enters the bag through these pinholes, causing the fertilizer to absorb moisture and clump together. I would appreciate any good ideas you might have; thank you!
Our company seals the inner bag separately, but it seems that the situation you mentioned can still occur. It has to be said that anti-caking agents are not a panacea; to prevent such issues, it is necessary to address the underlying causes, such as moisture, temperature, formulation, and crystallization properties
Are you referring to carbon ammonium packaging? The inner and outer bags of our ammonium carbonate packaging are separate, and a firm action is taken during packaging (to facilitate air release). Then vent the air and tie off the inner bag opening, and finally sew up the outer packaging. The urea packaging is similar to what you mentioned. (No lumps were seen either) :)

First is the use of double-laminated bags, also known as mucosal bags. The method of separating the two inner bags from the outer bag must absolutely be avoided. Packaging a product is inherently a task that requires high speed and physical effort, which severely affects the quality and volume of production. Anyway, as long as it’s a double-layer bag. We reject them at the production stage. The clumping issue has little impact on packaging. The causes of caking are mainly addressed during the production process and in the formulation. Then there is the so-called pinhole issue. We use double-line folding packaging. But whether it’s dual-line or single-line, it doesn’t make much of a difference. There are numerous detailed reasons for caking. Also, if fertilizers with a nitrogen content higher than 20 are stored for several months. We’re going to get trouble with sales. . . Generally, the inventory products of companies have low N levels and low impurity contents. .

Also, there are too many varieties of anti-caking agents, and there are no standards to verify their quality. As a result, under the same conditions, some products clump together while others do not. All are packaged in standard laminated bags, which can be manufactured by any bag production company.
Our fertilizer packaging uses separate inner and outer bags; the inner bag is tied up first before sealing. Clumping does occur sometimes, but with good fertilizer additives, it’s easy to loosen the mixture during handling by manual handling – in fact, farmers can simply shake the fertilizer bag a few times before applying it to loosen it. So, the key still lies with the additives.

The packaging process for double-layer bags is time-consuming; plastic-coated bags can be used, along with automatic sealing machines for packaging. The problem of clumping in fertilizers is mainly related to additives.

Packaging bags are being updated rapidly, but many fertilizer manufacturers still use a packaging method that involves separate inner and outer bags – this is a very outdated approach. A friend mentioned options such as bonding the inner bag or using double folding and double stitching; however, these methods likely fall far short of what the market requires. Nowadays, some manufacturers use composite outer bags along with an inner bag, and they also add moisture-proof stitching at the bottom.
If an adhesive inner bag is used, along with a folding machine, it is necessary to control the dimensions of the sealing line to ensure that the finished product does not absorb moisture or become compacted
