For motors, what power level generally requires the addition of current monitoring?
Generally 30kW and above (inclusive). But there are also those with 45 kW (inclusive) or more.
Motors with a power rating of over 40 kW require current monitoring. Since motors are loads with balanced three-phase voltage, installing a current transformer with an appropriate transformation ratio on the middle phase of the control cabinet used to control the motor allows for the monitoring of the operating current. Nowadays, in line with energy-saving requirements, large motors are equipped with frequency converters and soft starters; as a result, the current monitoring data can also be displayed on computer screens inside the room for monitoring purposes.
Generally, it is installed for capacities of 30kw and above.
There is generally no specific requirement, but *it is customary to install ammeters on motors with a power rating of over 30KW. However, for important motors or systems that involve automatic monitoring, current measurement devices are installed to display the values directly on the computer system.
The **standards** for the economical operation of three-phase asynchronous motors stipulate that devices for monitoring current must be installed in motors with a power rating of 55 kW or more, along with measuring devices for voltage and electrical energy.
Current addition detection is understandable, but I’ve never seen an energy meter added at the same time.
We all use frequency converters for control, so they can generally be connected to a PLC for monitoring.
