Since it is a packed tower, I only know the height of the packing; I am not familiar with the relevant parameters of the packing. Does this make simulation difficult, as I then don’t know the number of tray levels or the number of feed layers? Is there any way to determine these values through simulation?
Basically, in the preliminary simulation design, each meter of packing is equivalent to 3 theoretical plates; multiplying the height by 3 gives the total number of theoretical plates
If you are familiar with simulating such systems, check whether there are any industrial plants in operation, so that you can refer to the actual operational data.
With different fillers and different systems, the plate height varies quite significantly. If simulating the absorption process, an approximate estimation can be made using the theory that three equivalent plates per meter, as suggested by the person in floor 2
I agree that it’s worth looking at relevant projects as a reference; the BX mesh packing can achieve a theoretical packing density of 3 pieces per meter, while ordinary corrugated plates definitely cannot
Typically, HEPT captures around 0.5m, but this value can vary depending on the operating pressure of the distillation tower. It is recommended to refer to the data available in Chem Cad’s Help section; although it is still slightly inferior to A+, the information provided there can be quite useful at times
I’m not sure whether it’s structured packing or loose packing – there’s a big difference between the two. What was said on the 4th floor is correct; to add more, the efficiency of the filler also depends on the operating load. If you have operating data, you can calculate it backwards.
