What do air storage tanks for control valves look like? What should be taken into consideration when purchasing such tanks? What are the relevant standards? What certificates are required? If purchasing, can the manufacturer provide accessories such as valves for the connections?
The gas storage tank is vertical, and a safety valve must be installed on it to address issues related to temperature, pressure, and the medium.
Except for a few where the pressure is high, the air tanks of control valves generally store instrument air at 4-5 bar. The key requirement when purchasing these tanks is that they have sufficient capacity; in the event that the instrument air supply is lost, the air inside the tank must be used to supply the actuators of the valves until pressure equilibrium is achieved. This equilibrium pressure is then sufficient to drive the actuators to the state required for the valve to open or close when the air supply is interrupted. Of course, there are other things to keep in mind, such as working in an environment with corrosive substances, temperature, and so on – these aspects need to be taken into consideration. Since the pressure isn’t very high, I haven’t heard of any certificates being required. It’s just hearsay; some people use household gas cylinders as storage tanks for gas, haha.
