Most of the motors in our facility do not have grease filling ports; maintenance is usually carried out only during repairs (mainly for greasing the bearings). Are there any guidelines regarding how often such motors should be maintained?
For ordinary motors, we generally perform oil changes and maintenance every six months, unless there are special requirements; additionally, the level of operation frequency must also be taken into account. It should be specified in the general motor manual
Ordinary motors require lubricant to be applied every 2,000–3,000 hours.
I haven’t heard of any regulations. The refueling interval should be determined based on specific operating conditions. Holes can be drilled in the end cap to fill it with oil using a grease gun.
It is necessary to ensure proper lubrication of the motor bearings during operation. Generally, after the motor has run for about 2000 hours, the lubricant should be replenished or replaced (closed bearings do not require lubricant replacement throughout their service life). If the bearing is found to be overheating (the normal temperature rise of a bearing should not exceed 95°C) or if the lubricant has deteriorated, the lubricant should be replaced promptly. When replacing it, the old lubricant must first be removed, the bearing and its cover should be cleaned of any remaining grease using gasoline, and then ZI-3 lithium-based lubricant should be filled into half (for 2-pole motors) or two-thirds (for 4, 6, 8-pole motors) of the space between the inner and outer rings of the bearing. The instruction means that one should pay attention to the bearing temperature on a regular basis, and replace it when it’s in poor condition.
