What are the specifications for the process markings of elbows? What do 3D and 5D mean in this context?
My understanding is that the radius of curvature of the elbow is 3 or 5 times the diameter of the pipe
The radius of curvature for elbows is generally 1.5D for long-radius elbows (the elbow radius being 1.5 times the diameter), while it is 1D for short-radius elbows; elbows with a radius of 3D or more are less commonly used
∠ 90 R=1.5D DN50 PN16 means: a 90° elbow with a nominal diameter of 50, a pressure rating of 16 kilograms, and a curvature radius that is 1.5 times the nominal diameter of the elbow. The 3D, 5D, and 1D types you mentioned do exist, but they are not commonly used. I’m not sure if this helps, but if it does, please give it some points...
