Since our gasification furnace was put into operation, the content of effective gas has always seemed low, usually around 78%. After some adjustments in recent days, it can now reach over 80%, and the hydrogen production volume subsequent to that has also increased. I’d like to ask everyone, what level of oxygen content can be achieved in your areas? Also, what is the typical carbon content in the coarse slag there?

Coal quality is key. It’s generally between 75 and 83; normally around 80%. There are 6 analysis records per day, with 4 above 80 and the other two ranging from 79.5 to 80. Residual carbon is unstable: 4–45%, mainly depending on the sampling location and timing.
The carbon content in the coarse slag is around 3-5%, while that in the fine slag is 20-50%; the ratio of coarse slag to fine slag is 9:1. It are the production data from our company’s methanol plant.
Texaco’s target value is around 80%, plus or minus a little; generally, a level of over 78% is considered good. This also depends on the quality of the coal – the carbon content in the coarse slag isn’t fixed and is around 6%. It ultimately depends on the skill level of the operators at your facility.
The carbon content in our coarse slag is around 50%, and I think this is related to our production capacity as well as the burners used. However, as someone else mentioned earlier, it is also related to the way samples are taken and the timing of sampling. It seems that an effective gas content of 80% is a level recognized by everyone.
