What problems might arise if the liquid ammonia from the refinery (tanks, pumps, pipelines) is vented together with the acidic gas streams to the acidic gas flare, such as polymerization and crystallization? Please talk about the situation at your refinery. Thank you!
Install an ammonia burning flare separately, or send it to the acidified water storage tank.
Can the ammonia flare be combined with the gasification startup flare?
In refineries, all vent gases are sent to a large red flare line; unless it is an emergency, they must be treated first before being burned.
It is best to keep them separate to prevent ammonium carbonate crystals from clogging the pipelines, which could cause overpressure in the flare vent lines.
