Ningxia’s coal production and construction volume has exceeded 100 million tons 2009/02/12 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- With the completion and operation of coal mines such as Renjiazhuang, Maliantai, and Qingshuiying in Ningdong, Ningxia, and as the construction of key projects like Meihuajing, Shicao Village, Hongliu, and Maiduoshan progresses more rapidly, Ningxia’s total coal production and construction volume has now surpassed 100 million tons, making it a true major coal-producing province. Since the proposal to develop Ningdong into an important large-scale coal production base, a coal chemical industry hub, a thermal power generation center for transmitting electricity from the west to the east, and a demonstration park for circular economy was put forward, and since Ningdong was designated as a key development area, the pace of coal production and development in Ningxia has accelerated significantly. **Three coal mining projects in Shicao Village, Maiduoshan, and Hongliu were approved all at once, setting a new record of **3 projects approved for one company at a time, and 5 projects approved within one year. As Ningxia’s largest coal enterprise, Shenhua Ningmei Group invested 15.138 billion yuan in fixed assets last year, an increase of 4.858 billion yuan compared to the previous year, representing a growth rate of 46%. The rapid growth in fixed asset investment has driven a swift expansion in the scale of coal production and construction by enterprises. It is understood that in 2008, 4 projects of Shenhua Ningmei Group, including those for methanol production with an annual capacity of 250,000 tons, as well as coal washing plants in Dawukou, Taixi, and Xidatan, passed the completion inspection. Five other projects, namely the coal mines in Qingshuiying, Hongliu, Maiduoshan, and Shichao Village, along with Lingzhou Gangue Power Plant, were approved for construction. Six projects, including safety and technical upgrades for coal mines in Renjiazhuang, Qingshuiying, and Yangchangwan with an annual capacity of 10 million tons, the second phase of the Shizuishan Coal Sorting Center, a plant for producing 6,000 tons of activated carbon per year, and a plant for producing 300,000 tons of slag cement per year, began trial production. Six projects, including the first phase of Ningdong Gangue Power Plant (with 2×300MW units), the western shaft of Zaoquan Coal Mine, Hongshiwan, Jinfeng, and Shuangma Coal Mines, started construction. The progress of eight key projects, including Meihuajing, Shichao Village, Hongliu, Maiduoshan Coal Mines, a methanol production plant with an annual capacity of 600,000 tons, and an olefin production plant with an annual capacity of 520,000 tons, accelerated significantly. The completion and commissioning of these projects, along with the start of their construction, have enabled Ningxia’s coal production capacity to exceed 100 million tons. The accelerated construction pace has not affected the quality of the project, said Yan Yongsheng, general manager of Shenhua Ningmei Group Company. Last year, the Yangchangwan Coal Mine project developed by the group company was awarded the \"Lu Ban Award\" for high-quality construction – the first such highest honor in the coal industry in the Northwest region. Yan Yongsheng explained that this year, Shenhua Ningmei Group plans to invest 13.28 billion yuan in fixed assets, with 28 projects for capital construction and technical upgrades scheduled.
