Why is a pig transfer process needed

For those without intermediate stations, I think only the sending and receiving process for pigging devices is sufficient; why is there a need for a forwarding process? Especially regarding gas pipelines, I would appreciate it if an expert could provide an explanation :)
There are no intermediate stations; it goes directly from the starting station to the ending station. The starting station is where the process begins, while the ending station is where the process ends.
No pressure is needed in the middle; it’s possible to skip stations directly
When the ball is not significantly worn and does not need to be replaced, the sewage and debris must first be removed at the intermediate station; otherwise, the resistance will be too high, leading to the ball getting stuck.
For the pigging process, the length per pigging operation, the time involved, as well as operational and pressure changes must all be taken into consideration. If the distance set is too large, it will affect the normal operation of the system; therefore, a transition function needs to be included in between
