Hello everyone, I have an urgent question. Renovation of the alkali tank at Plant 1. Before, it was something called perlite, covered with glass cloth and painted. I originally planned to use magnesium aluminum silicate for this, with galvanized iron sheet as the protective layer. The factory disagreed, saying that the alkaline solution is corrosive. Use the old one. The previous method is really outdated. Because people need to walk on top of the groove, there used to be a layer of concrete there. I haven’t been in contact with them. Friends, please help take a look and analyze it. Those who understand the material, please explain it. If you have any better suggestions, please recommend them.
It’s difficult to work on the grooves; no conventional insulation material works well in such situations. If you want to save money, it’s better to use perlite ； For aesthetic appeal and good thermal insulation, rock wool or aluminum silicate fiber felts (or blankets) are recommended, with a thin aluminum sheet used as the outer protective layer. To prevent corrosion, it is necessary to avoid contact between the protective layer and alkaline solutions. Using a non-metallic protective layer looks ugly!
