Question: What considerations should be taken into account when designing buried horizontal storage tanks for chemical raw materials such as toluene and ethyl acetate?
It mainly concerns issues such as pollution and leakage prevention, the geological conditions of the site, hardening, and leakage recovery and treatment.
It seems that the tank design can be similar to that of pressure vessels; as for installation, the geological conditions should be taken into consideration, and discussions should be held with those involved in the construction work. As for other leaks or problems that arise during use, one can contact the unit using the equipment to develop an emergency response plan or something similar. In factories, these tasks are handled by safety officers, and they are generally based on the safety training materials provided to workers. Of course, in terms of design, things like drain valves and safety valves should all be taken into consideration.
The design pressure for buried equipment should be determined by considering negative pressures; the depth at which the equipment is buried directly affects the external pressure to which it is exposed. The corresponding design pressure should be calculated based on the standards applicable to buried oil tanks in gas stations. If no relevant data are available, then Article 3.5.1 on page 4 of GB150 should be followed, with a design pressure of -0.1 MPa being adopted
The foundation is very important; geological conditions and groundwater levels need to be taken into account, as any displacement of the tank can cause the pipelines to rupture
