As the title suggests, after using red copper in our factory, we found that although the performance was better than that with steel, corrosion remained severe
For hydrofluoric acid with a concentration of 20% or less, PTFE lining is generally used
Copper is not corrosion-resistant and will corrode rapidly; the corrosion product is basic copper carbonate, and tetrafluoroethylene lining is generally used
Anhydrous HF is the only one that can be used with copper; 20% HF probably won’t work with copper. Graphite, POF4, and F46 should all work
Copper won’t work; use Hastelloy instead.
Our anhydrous HF uses thick-walled seamless tubes, and the valves are lined with F46
Hydrofluoric acid with a concentration of 20% or less should also be resistant to corrosion by vinyl resin
Currently, tetrafluorinated materials are quite reliable, but their service life is not very long when used at temperatures above 180 degrees or under high negative pressures. To address these issues, an appropriate lining process must be selected to ensure the quality of the lining.
Steel-reinforced polyethylene plastic composite pipes can be used. It can be used when the temperature is below 80 degrees. It can also be used under negative pressure process conditions. It has already been applied in several chemical plants.
If costs permit, Monel alloy is a better choice.
