Control method for the remote water pumping station

Our facility has a remote water pumping station located about three kilometers outside the factory premises; it is required to be operated in a remote, unattended manner. The control system includes one ultrasonic level gauge and three strong self-priming single-stage double-suction centrifugal pumps. May I ask what control method would be more appropriate? Thank you
This isn’t explained very clearly. The choice should be made based on the operating mode required by the manufacturing process; it’s a very simple system.
Is PLC control planned, with a single small system? Should we still use remote I/O to solve it? Please advise, is there a big difference in cost?
The approach we usually adopt is to install a PLC at the water intake, which communicates with the water treatment plant via fiber optics, thereby enabling unattended operation at the water intake.
