The ammonia concentration at the inlet and outlet of the ammonia synthesis tower is an important parameter in operational monitoring. We use the ammonia absorption method to determine the ammonia concentration entering the tower, but the analysis results are not satisfactory when compared with those obtained through online analysis; the error can be as high as nearly 1%. Is this a flaw of the absorption method, or is it due to improper sampling using rubber balls, or some other reason? The sampling location is fine, and the discharge and replacement processes are thorough enough. We welcome any guidance from everyone!
Choose an arbitration analysis method and recalibrate the online analytical instrument
The online analyzer has been calibrated using a standard gas, and there is little change.
By 1% the OP is referring to, does that mean the ammonia absorption method yields a result that is 1% lower than that of the online detection? If so, then the rubber bladder used for sampling should have a certain capacity to absorb ammonia. When conducting tests using the ammonia absorption method, I found that silicone tubes have a high capacity to absorb ammonia; therefore, rubber tubes must also have some degree of adsorption capability, although the specific extent of this adsorption has not been tested.
What I don’t understand is why sampling the tire bladder is still necessary Why not absorb it directly on site? If it is absorbed on-site, it will reduce systematic errors.

If a problem with the gas cartridge is suspected, replace it with an aluminum foil gas bag for sampling; if the issue persists, use the ammonia absorption method to analyze the content of the standard gas
