The treatment process for fumaric acid production wastewater is characterized by sequentially including the following steps: the raw wastewater undergoes pretreatment； Anaerobic biological treatment ； Aerobic biological treatment ； Physical and chemical treatment. This invention adopts a treatment process that combines anaerobic and aerobic biological treatment methods with physical and chemical methods. It requires low investment, has low costs, high efficiency, and rapid results, thereby overcoming the environmental pollution problems caused by combustion-based treatment methods. It effectively treats the high-concentration organic wastewater generated in fumaric acid production, ensuring it meets discharge standards and thereby resolving a problem that has yet to be addressed in China to date
The treatment methods mentioned above are basically conventional ones for wastewater treatment. However, the key to dealing with such wastewater lies in pretreatment, as the method used for pretreatment affects the efficiency of the subsequent biochemical treatment processes. In my opinion, using microelectrolysis and iron plus hydrogen peroxide oxidation for pretreatment not only improves the biodegradability of the wastewater but also leads to a significant reduction in COD levels – by more than 30%. Subsequent biochemical treatment can then be employed to resolve the remaining issues.
It seems the answer doesn’t address the question properly; the question is about producing fumaric acid from maleic anhydride wastewater, not about wastewater treatment in the fumaric acid production process.
