The key is the quality of procurement of the pipeline materials. Under normal circumstances, it should last at least over 10 years. If the quality of the material is poor, its service life is uncertain.
Our company has been using 20G pipes for nearly 30 years; the high-temperature sections such as 10MoWVNb and 15CrMo pipes have been replaced once, and their service life is still satisfactory.
It took us 25 years; we didn’t replace them until the year before last when the pipelines were upgraded to be thicker, but some of the pipes were also converted into compressor main pipes. The operating pressure and the medium used remained unchanged. I think as long as it’s properly protected and vibrations and medium erosion are reduced, it should last at least 30 years or so.
What the original poster is referring to is probably the secondary pipeline; we use 10MoWVNb material, which is imported, and the manufacturer claims it has a lifespan of 15 years.
