Dear teachers and friends at Haichuan, what is the purpose of the installation clearance requirements between the impeller and the pump cover in centrifugal cantilever single-stage pumps? Generally, what effects might there be if it grows larger?
A larger gap results in more backflow, higher temperatures, lower efficiency, and greater power loss.
The impeller is a moving component, while the pump cover is a stationary one; if no gap is left between them, friction will occur between them as the impeller rotates, leading to wear of the components and increased power loss
