In the synthesis process of one of our intermediates, caustic soda is required, and the reaction has strict requirements regarding the iron ion content in this caustic soda – it needs to be at the PPm level. Solid alkali made from ion-exchange membrane alkali or ion-exchange membrane caustic can achieve PPm levels.
The iron content in diaphragm caustic is generally on the % level. I have some doubts regarding the classification proposed by the original poster: there are only a few types of electrolytic processes used for producing caustic soda, and \"solid caustic\" is simply a general term for it. It might be made using diaphragm alkali, which contains higher levels of iron; as for solid alkali produced with ion-exchange membrane alkali, the iron content also varies depending on the production process. It is recommended that the original poster get in touch with the relevant manufacturers. Generally, solid caustic is used in contrast to liquid caustic; it is not a separate category. 1. Classified by production process: diaphragm caustic, ion-exchange membrane caustic ; 2. By product form: liquid caustic soda, solid caustic soda ; 3. By concentration (liquid caustic): 30%, 32%, 50%.
