In fact, plastic products do have some impact on the human body to some extent. For example, the plasticizers commonly used in plastic products are essentially the same as estrogen, and they pose a particular risk to pregnant women. As for other safety issues, the likelihood of them occurring is low; moreover, the plastics themselves cannot break down. However, it is possible for the additives contained within them to become free.
There’s no problem. On one hand, the materials used for the casing are usually PET, PBT, and similar substances, with a temperature resistance range of 160–250 degrees; they do not decompose when exposed to boiling water. On the other hand, the materials used in these fields must pass relevant certifications such as SGS.
There are also many types of plastics; the original poster should check the material type indicated in the instructions. I think with a bigger brand, there should be no safety issues; after all, an electric teapot isn’t some kind of high-tech device.
If you care about such things, it’s better to change careers. In any case, don’t seek cheap options. If the products come from reputable companies, there’s no need to worry too much about this issue. Even stainless steel products from unreputable companies can have similar problems. The same risks apply to water dispensers as well. It depends on what plastic material and color are used, as the migration properties of various pigments and plastic additives vary. If the plastic itself is fine – for example, polypropylene is safe – but additives and pigments that are not resistant to migration are used, then the product can pose a risk. Plastics such as polycarbonate and polystyrene-based plastics (PS, ABS) are restricted from use in the EU and the US due to the generation of carcinogenic monomers and oligomers during processing, but there are no corresponding laws in China. In any case, try not to use plastic products to hold hot things.
