Operation of shielded pumps! Preparations before starting up: 1. Before attempting to run the pump for the first time, it is necessary to thoroughly remove any foreign objects from the oil pump system and its associated components. 2. The pump body must not be filled with liquid, and the pump shall not be started until the motor cooling jacket and heat exchanger have been filled with coolant. 3 Confirm that the rotation direction of the pump is correct. 4 If there is no permanent filter, a temporary filter should be installed during the first start-up. 2.2 Checks before starting the pump. 1 Inspect the piping, electrical circuits, and auxiliary pipelines. 2 Check the outlet pressure gauge; ensure that the cooling system is in good condition. 3. When liquid is introduced for the first time during operation, check that the mesh size of the filter and screen meets the requirements; solid impurities must not enter the pump. 4. Contact other personnel in the system to get ready for starting the pump. 5 Check the lubrication system 2.3 Startup procedure 2.3.1 Close the inlet valve and the outlet valve. 2.3.2 If a cooling system is available, open the cooling water valve and supply cooling water to the system (with the water temperature below 35°C). 2.3.3 Open the inlet valve of the pump to fill the pump body and suction line with liquid. 2.3.4 Open the pump’s exhaust valve to release the gas from within the pump. Note: During exhaust, do not approach (or prevent) liquid from splashing from the exhaust point. 2.3.5 Start the motor. First, perform a jog test (jog 3 times within about 39 seconds). During the jog phase, check that there is no abnormal vibration or noise before allowing continuous operation. 2.3.6 Repeat the emission of air. (If necessary) 2.3.7 After completing the exhaust process, and once it is confirmed that the pressure in the pump outlet pipeline meets the specified requirements, slowly open the outlet valve to allow the discharge volume to gradually reach the specified level. Note: If the pressure when closing the outlet valve is only 60–70% of the rated discharge pressure, it indicates that the rotation direction of the impeller is reversed; stop the pump and reverse the phase. 2.3.8 Check the pressure changes at the inlet and pay attention to the clogging of the filter. 2.3.9 Check the vibration of the pump; under normal conditions, the vibration is so slight that it is difficult to determine whether the pump is operating. If there is vibration, stop the machine for inspection. 2.4 Inspections during operation 2.4.1 Check the pump’s flow rate and outlet pressure. 2.4.2 Check for abnormal vibrations and noises. 2.4.3 Check for cavitation in the pump. Vibrations and noises that occur when the outlet valve is opened, along with the fact that the flow rate does not increase as the valve is opened further, are signs of cavitation. 2.4.4 Check whether the motor current is overloaded. 2.4.5 Check the outlet water temperature of the cooling system. 2.5 Inspections during normal operation 2.5.1 Check the motor current. 2.5.2 Check whether the outlet pressure is normal. 2.5.3 Vibration and noise levels of the pump. 2.5.4 Leakage conditions. 2.5.5 Whether the cooling water system is functioning properly. 2.6 Regular inspections (at least one regular inspection per year) 2.6.1 Check the wear condition of bearings, shaft sleeves, and thrust washers. 2.6.2 Check the gap between the rotor and the stator. 2.6.3 Check that there is contact between the impeller and the pump casing. 2.6.4 Check for scaling and blockages in the cooling water system. 2.6.5 Check the bearing monitor and bearing wear condition. 2.7 Shutdown Procedure 2.7.1 Stop the pump after closing the outlet valve (leave it slightly open). 2.7.2 Close the inlet valve, then turn off the cooling water. Note: The cooling water valve must not be closed until the motor has cooled down. (About 30 minutes) If the pump is not to be used for an extended period, the liquid inside the pump should be drained, as well as the liquid in the auxiliary pipelines and the cooling water system. Be careful of cooling water freezing in winter. When restarting the pump after a long period of shutdown, it is necessary to check all components of the pump and the motor insulation just as when starting it up for the first time.
According to the regulations, what is written is always verbose and covers every little detail. It will be completely confusing even for beginners. But in actual production, I’m afraid no one follows the procedures step by step; it’s really a strange situation.
