According to reports from Sinochem New Network on January 18, officials from the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region stated that in 2009, the region will study relevant industrial policies. Based on these policies and market demands, efforts will be intensified to regulate the chemical industry and prevent uncontrolled development in this sector. Focus will be placed on expanding the coal chemical industry to lay the foundation for establishing coal chemical production capacity in the tens of millions of tons range as soon as possible. It is reported that this year, with clean coal chemical processing as the key focus, and centered around four main areas – fertilizers, methanol, aromatics, and synthetic oils – efforts will be made to further develop new coal chemical product chains, thereby achieving a coal chemical production capacity on the order of tens of millions of tons. In the western part of Inner Mongolia, efforts are focused on advancing the construction of large-scale projects for coal liquefaction, coal coking, methanol production, dimethyl ether production, olefin production from methanol, and the deep processing of coal tar ； In the Mengdong region, efforts are focused on advancing the construction of large-scale projects such as coal-based olefins, methanol, dimethyl ether, coking, humic acid, and urea. Efforts will be made to ensure that the Shenhua Group’s Ordos coal-to-oil project operates at full capacity and meets all required standards. Special attention will be given to the construction of various ongoing chemical projects as well as those scheduled to start, including Shenhua’s Baotou coal-to-olefins project, Datang’s coal-based olefins project, Sanlian Chemical Group’s polyvinyl chloride project, Zhongyan Jilantai’s second-phase polyvinyl chloride production facility, Zhongtian Hechuang’s dimethyl ether project, and Shenhua’s coal coking project. The chemical industry is one of the six key competitive industries in Inner Mongolia. This year, the key focus of regulation in the chemical industry in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region is to ensure that new projects, ongoing projects, and those undergoing renovation or expansion strictly comply with **industry policies and requirements related to energy conservation and emission reduction, in order to firmly avoid blind development. This year, the autonomous region **will also implement policy measures such as tax and fee reductions, optimized resource allocation, and multilateral electricity trading, to help key enterprises reduce their burdens and lower their costs. In particular, efforts should be made to help enterprises that have ceased or reduced production due to compliance issues with industrial policies and environmental regulations to resume normal operations as soon as possible ； Strive actively to secure **technology upgrade funds, accelerate the pace of technological upgrades in enterprises, and ensure proper preparation and coordination for such projects ； Increase efforts in key chemical projects and industrial park development to effectively strengthen the momentum for industrial economic growth.
