Could someone with experience give some advice?

I graduated in 2007 and am currently working at a Sino-Japanese joint venture chemical plant, with a 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. work schedule. I live at home and commute by bike; my main tasks are to monitor daily operations in the workshop and prepare reports on material consumption. It’s really boring and has no future prospects. If I had a choice, to leave home and work at a plumbing firm in a city not far from home, earning roughly the same amount as now. ————How would you choose? I like designing things myself; seeing the results of my designs gives me a sense of achievement.
LZ had better not expect too much; the piping work isn’t much better either. My classmates who work with piping also said the same thing to me.

I agree to let you go work at a design firm where you can handle piping work. You’ve been at your current job for two years now with no real progress; doing such simple tasks is a waste of your time – it’s better to leave right away. At a design firm, you need to work hard and learn as much as possible; the more skills you have, the better, as they’ll be useful wherever you go. Under no circumstances should you just muddle along.
Time waits for no one; take advantage of your youth to do what you enjoy, as after the age of 30 you’ll have to do many things that you don’t like. After 40, I have no idea anymore.

Once one feels that their work is meaningful, then any job becomes meaningful. Secondly, the original poster made a mistake in their choice; the piping system is not something that is designed by oneself. The piping is arranged in accordance with the manufacturing processes, and the key lies in those processes. The processes reflect the contents of the software packages, so the focus is on the software packages.
