Why are there no foot bolts on the bottom supports of the ammonia synthesis tower for small nitrogen fertilizers?
The synthesis tower is connected to the outlet pipe of the synthesis compressor. Reciprocating compressors generate pulsating vibrations; if foot bolts are used for the ammonia synthesis tower, the connection between the tower and the piping becomes rigid, resulting in excessive local stress in the tank body. If no foot bolts are used, it is a flexible connection. Furthermore, the self-weight of the ammonia synthesis tower is sufficient to overcome the overturning moment caused by wind loads.
