Deoxygenation issues in ethylene glycol pipelines

I have a question for fellow professionals: While reviewing the design drawings for ethylene pipelines, I noticed that the pipes used for ethylene glycol require deoxygenation treatment. Is this done to prevent the pipes from suffering from electrolytic corrosion?
Just to add, we are the ones who carry out the installation; the previous pipes were treated with acid washing and alkali washing. I’ve never heard of deoxygenation being used. If anyone knows anything about this, please share your knowledge – I’m waiting online.
