Dear sea friends, does anyone have any materials on oil processing (mercury removal)? Could you share some information? Even a little bit of scarce data on mercury-removing adsorbents would be of great help to me. Thank you in advance
Our factory once used a silver catalyst for this purpose, but the results were not satisfactory. It is said that there are no very effective methods either.

Mercury in oil consists of organic mercury and inorganic mercury (including elemental mercury); this form of mercury cannot be removed through direct adsorption by sulfides, as direct adsorption by sulfides can only remove inorganic mercury. This method is generally used for mercury removal from natural gas. The general rule regarding mercury content in oils is that oils with high sulfur content have lower mercury levels.
