Equipment for producing nitrogen includes nitrogen compressors, nitrogen generators, nitrogen production units, nitrogen-making machines, ammonia decomposition furnaces, and gas purification equipment. The basic process involves first using a air compressor (screw type) to produce compressed air; this air then passes through an air storage tank to have some of the liquid water and oil removed from it. Subsequently, an air treatment system (freeze dryer and precision filters) is used to eliminate any remaining water, oil, and dust from the air, thereby providing clean and stable compressed air for the nitrogen generator – which is the raw material used to produce nitrogen. The purified and dried compressed air, under pressure, takes advantage of the fact that oxygen diffuses and adsorbs in the micropores of carbon molecular sieves at a much faster rate than nitrogen does. Before equilibrium is reached, nitrogen becomes concentrated in the gas phase, thereby producing pure nitrogen. Then, by reducing the pressure to atmospheric level, the adsorbent releases the oxygen and other impurities it has absorbed, thereby achieving regeneration. Two adsorption towers are installed in the system: one is used for nitrogen adsorption, while the other is used for desorption and regeneration. A PLC program controller is used to control the opening and closing of the pneumatic valves, enabling the two towers to operate in alternating cycles and thus achieving continuous production of high-quality nitrogen.
