What are the requirements regarding the orientation of the inlets at the gas feed point for plate towers and packed towers?

There are no principled requirements; as long as the piping specifications are met, it’s fine. There are certain requirements regarding the height of the opening; it should not be too close to either the lower page or the filler or trays above, so that the gas can be distributed evenly.

As long as the piping requirements are met and there is no interference with the internal components, packing towers require a uniform gas distribution; plate towers have no particular requirements regarding the gas inlet.
