I saw a silicone drying system on the flow diagram of a turbine cycle machine, and I would like to ask what purpose this system serves Is there any detailed material that you could share? I’m trying to learn*.
This is used to protect the turbine motor; fresh gas is employed for this purpose, while silicone is used for drying. Since the copper coils in the motor are corroded by ammonia, fresh gas is necessary. Additionally, the temperature of the protective gas is usually kept between 5 and 15 degrees.
Is it only electric centrifuges that come equipped with this type of protection system? Is this system manufactured by turbine manufacturers or by manufacturers of drying systems?
Yes, it is only required for electric drive; if it is driven by a turbine, then this problem does not exist. It is usually provided by the turbine manufacturer as part of the package. The silicone just needs to be purchased separately.
