What does discharge check valve mean? My master said it refers to an outlet stop valve, but isn’t a check valve a one-way valve? What is the difference between a check valve and a globe valve?

The globe valve, also known as a stop valve, is the most widely used type of valve. It is popular because it experiences low friction between its sealing surfaces during operation, is durable, requires little clearance for opening, is easy to manufacture, and convenient to maintain. It is suitable not only for medium and low pressures but also for high pressures. Its closing principle relies on the pressure from the valve stem to bring the sealing surface of the valve disc into close contact with the sealing surface of the valve seat, thereby preventing the flow of the medium. A stop valve allows fluid to flow in only one direction, and it has a specific orientation when installed. Its structure results in a length greater than that of gate valves, and it presents high fluid resistance; moreover, its sealing reliability is not strong during long-term operation. Stop valves are divided into three categories: straight-through, right-angle, and parallel-flow inclined stop valves. A check valve is a valve whose valve disc opens and closes automatically due to the flow of the medium itself, and it is used to prevent the backflow of the medium. It is also known as a non-return valve, one-way valve, reverse flow valve, and backpressure valve. It is a type of automatic valve whose main functions are to prevent backflow of the medium, to stop the pump and driving motor from rotating in reverse, and to allow the release of the medium from the container. It can also be used in the pipelines that supply auxiliary systems whose pressure may rise above the system pressure. They can be mainly divided into swing-type (rotating around the center of gravity) and lift-type (moving along the axis). A check valve, a non-return valve, and a check valve are all the same thing; it has two main functions: 1. To ensure that the fluid can flow in only one direction. 2. Overpressure protection: A high back pressure is used; when the pressure exceeds a certain value, the valve opens, which is also the basic principle of an overflow safety valve.
