The CO2 recovery technology jointly developed by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Kansai Electric Power is characterized by significantly reduced energy consumption compared to other methods. The special absorbent liquid “KS-1” is used to separate and recover CO2 from combustion exhaust gases, which is then used as a raw material in the synthesis processes of urea and methanol. The recovery rate of CO2 from the exhaust gas will reach approximately 90%.
Selection of process technology solutions: Generally, for the purpose of convenient transportation and use, carbon dioxide is converted into liquid or solid forms during production. Theoretically, as long as the temperature of carbon dioxide is below its critical temperature of 31.04°C, it can be liquefied under specific pressures; the higher the pressure, the lower the liquefaction temperature. However, since different carbon dioxide feed gases contain various toxic and harmful impurities such as hydrocarbons, alcohols, aldehydes, benzene, and sulfur in different forms, these substances will condense to some extent together during the liquefaction of carbon dioxide, thereby having a significant impact on the quality of the carbon dioxide product. The production of carbon dioxide is essentially a process of liquefaction and purification; the fundamental difference between various carbon dioxide production processes lies in the purification techniques used.
