I’m often asked what the initial pressure drop of your filters is (that is, the resistance exerted by the filter itself on the liquid, which should include friction and other factors). I answer that it’s 0.1 or 0.2 kilograms, because that’s what everyone else says, so I just follow what they say. But I don’t know how this figure is calculated either. I hope someone with expertise in this area can offer some guidance. I always feel unsure about what I say; it’s better to know how to calculate things! ;P The initial pressure difference across the filter is the pressure drop caused by the filter itself. For example, with your bag filter, when a new filter bag is first installed, the different filtration efficiencies of the filter bags result in certain resistance as the liquid passes through the filter, thereby causing a pressure loss. This is the initial pressure difference. This pressure difference is not a fixed value. It has a different value corresponding to the different levels of filtering precision you use. For the same equipment, even if the filtration precision is identical, the pressure drop varies among different manufacturers. For the specific figures, you need to ask your design and production department, as these values are experimental. Although you can refer to other people’s data as well, the actual values will be different. Actually, you can just add a pressure gauge before and after the filter to find out

It can be calculated using hydraulic formulas. Generally, 0.5 m is taken at each of the inlet and outlet of the equipment; the calculation for the filter bed becomes more complex. You can refer to the Haicheng formula for calculation
