A QQ group has been created, with the ID 25723095; everyone is welcome to join it for technical exchanges and to work together to advance the development of the bioenergy industry. It contains my personal summary of the research hotspots in biomass pyrolysis and gasification, as mentioned on floor 2. This post was last edited by wqianghit on 2009-2-17 at 16:54
Biomass pyrolysis and gasification – Current research directions: 1. Gasification for power generation, such as at the Guangzhou Institute of Energy: with a capacity of 15 MW. 2. Gasification for synthesis, such as at the Guangzhou Institute of Energy: to produce dimethyl ether. 3. Gasification for hydrogen production, such as at Xi’an Jiaotong University (using supercritical methods) and Southeast University (using catalytic methods). 4. Integration of gasification with fuel cells, such as at the Shandong Institute of Energy. 5. Pyrolysis for oil production, such as at the University of Science and Technology of China and Shandong University of Technology. 6. Use of pyrolysis oil in internal combustion engines, such as at Hefei University of Technology and Xi’an Jiaotong University. 7. Applications of pyrolysis oil in materials manufacturing, such as at China Agricultural University. Potential research directions: 1. Gasification for power generation (including integration with fuel cells). 2. Refining of pyrolysis oil and material synthesis (research in this area is still limited). 3. Use of pyrolysis oil in internal combustion engines (research is just beginning in China). 4. Application of pyrolysis and gasification in solid waste treatment. 5. Control of pollutants generated during pyrolysis and gasification processes (such as CO2). 6. Gasification for hydrogen production (this is currently a hot topic).
