The Junggar Basin is the main area for exploration and development by Xinjiang Oilfield Company. The initial plan for the Kalamaili gas field is to produce 1 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year, with an expected stable supply duration of at least 50 years ； In terms of the scale and quality of its gas field reserves, it still has significant potential for expansion. The Kalamaili gas field is located in front of the Kalamaili Mountains in the eastern part of the Junggar Basin, about 250 kilometers away from Karamay City.
