One of the columns in the boiler steel frame has a twisting issue due to manufacturing defects; the degree of twisting is 25 mm. How can this be resolved at the construction site? The column with dimensions 330*328 is made by welding two 300# channel steels together, with 14mm thick steel plates as the facing panels, and its length is 11m. Thank you. Two more channel steels of the same type can be welded to either side of it to provide primary support.
A few comments: 1. What LZ mentioned should be 30# channel steel, right?; 2. Columns welded together from two 30# channel steels, each 11M in length, with a twist of 25mm! ? There were significant mistakes in the manufacturing process and welding quality; the welding defects caused severe deformation of the workpiece. 3. The 14mm steel plate mentioned by LZ seems to be two whole sheets. It’s not necessary to use the entire page; small sections can be used to create the “stamens”. 4. A reasonable manufacturing process: first, adjust the channel steel and side plates so that their deformation remains within the specified limits ; First, weld the channel steel and steel plates together at their joints (using spot welding). Avoid welding all of them in one place; several workers can carry out the welding, or the welds can be divided into several sections so that welding is done alternately to control excessive deformation. 5. For deformed columns where high standards are required, the welds can only be ground or planed open, followed by realignment and re-welding in accordance with point 4 above ; If the requirements are lower, the weld can be locally ground or planed to relieve stress, followed by re-welding.
