The poster is referring to the desorption tower, right? Is it also called an ammonia vaporization tower? If it is a desorption tower, then fluctuations in the pressure at the top may be caused by an excessively high concentration of the feed components, leading to flooding in the ammonia vaporization tower; moreover, the temperature at the top also fluctuates along with the pressure.
What the original poster is referring to is probably not a desorption tower, but rather a device for concentrating dilute ammonia water or concentrated ammonia water, right? If so, it is likely caused by unstable return flow of liquid ammonia at the top of the tower.

Our plant’s ammonia vaporization tower is used to treat excess ammonia water. It’s only the pressure at the top of the tower that changes; the temperature hardly fluctuates with pressure changes!
Is what is discharged from the top of the ammonia vaporization tower ammonia gas, or is it the waste gas remaining after ammonia has been recovered? The reason may vary depending on the design of the tower. If it’s the pressure of ammonia, then changes in the flow rate, concentration, or temperature of the feed material can cause variations in the amount of ammonia vaporized. If it’s the pressure of the waste gas, then in addition to the factors mentioned above, fluctuations may occur during the ammonia recovery process, such as changes in the flow rate and temperature of the washing water or cooling water.
