The installation of the new equipment at our company is almost complete. How thick should a blind plate be used for gas sealing and purging of equipment? I heard there is a table for this purpose; I wonder if anyone has it? I asked for advice!
The selection of blind plates is based not on thickness, but on pressure rating and the physicochemical properties of the medium. For example, in the case of corrosive substances, blind flanges made of the same material as the process piping should be used. There is a corresponding table for pressure levels; for a pressure of 1.0 Mpa, 150 pounds will suffice. There is a conversion formula: 1 psi = 0.07031 kgf/cm2, 1 kgf/cm2 = 14.22 psi (pounds per square inch), and 150 psi = 10.55 kilograms. However, when making actual use, it is necessary to refer to relevant standards, as factors such as temperature also need to be taken into account.

This requires calculation; different blind hole diameters and pressure levels demand different thicknesses for the blind plates. The larger the diameter, the greater the thickness required, and the thickness must be sufficient – it cannot be too thin. Please calculate the thickness of the blind plate based on the diameter of the hole to be sealed and the pressure involved, using the formula for the thickness of flat-ended vessels specified in the relevant standards.
