I would like to ask: is it necessary to install a liquid distribution device at the feed inlet of continuous methanol distillation (using structured corrugated mesh packing columns)? Should we go straight into the tower?
Of course, there is a liquid distributor; otherwise, there would definitely be flow deviation.
That tower has several feed inlets – does a fitting need to be installed for each one?
This can occur in plate towers, but in packed towers there can only be one feed inlet; this relates to the arrangement of the feed distribution and the distributor itself.
A liquid distributor is essential. It is mainly related to the uniformity of flow rate between the precipitation points; generally, a measuring device (a measuring tank) is installed below these precipitation points to check whether the flow rate remains consistent over a certain period of time. The basic requirement for a distributor is 1: operational feasibility, ensuring that all flow channels within the distributor remain unobstructed and preventing phenomena such as scaling, crystallization, coking, polymerization, and curing from occurring. 2. Not only is there a liquid redistributor at each feed inlet, but there are also liquid redistributors between the packing and the packing below it. The liquid is collected again and then redistributed to prevent wall flow. Only in this way can heat and mass transfer occur effectively

Plate or floating valve towers do not require a liquid distributor, but packed towers must have one.
Our crude methanol contains 86% methanol, 10% light components, and 4% heavy components; But it’s not known what exactly the light components are; there are many different substances involved, which makes it difficult to determine the feeding location. Therefore, we want to determine through pilot tests which would work better by installing multiple feed inlets. Wouldn’t it be very complicated if a liquid distributor were installed at each feed inlet?
