Electrically, does I.S. mean intrinsically safe?

The electrical specifications state the following: For intrinsically safe loops that fall entirely within the vendor’s scope, proof of I.S. compliance along with an I.S. design verification sheet detailing the compliance data (for each typical loop type) must be provided. My understanding is that for those intrinsically safe loops that are part of the vendor’s responsibility, there should be evidence of compliance with I.S. standards, as well as a design verification sheet that outlines the details of compliance (for each common type of loop). I’m not sure if the I.S. here is an abbreviation for Intrinsically Safe; if there’s any mistake, I hope professionals can point it out. Thank you!
