Could everyone help me explain what electronic tripping and mechanical tripping in turbines are?
Electronic tripping refers to the situation where the control system of the unit sets a predetermined tripping speed; when the unit reaches this speed, an interlock mechanism is activated and the unit shuts down. (Soft chain). Mechanical tripping refers to the situation where, when the speed of the unit exceeds a certain value, the centrifugal force becomes greater than the tension exerted by the spring; as a result, the flyweight is ejected and activates the emergency shut-off valve, which cuts off the oil supply and shuts down the high, medium, and low pressure accident valves, thereby triggering the interlock mechanism based on the tripping speed or the displacement of the turbine shaft. (Rigid linkage).
Electronic tripping: refers to a protection device that activates when the vibration, displacement, or oil pressure of the compressor reaches certain interlock values; this triggers the rapid shutdown valve to close and cut off the steam, thereby causing an emergency stop of the turbine. Mechanical trip: This refers to the situation where, when the turbine exceeds its tripping speed, the centrifugal force of the flywheel becomes greater than the force of the spring, causing the flywheel to strike the valve stem of the emergency shutdown device, thereby stopping the turbine.
