Are there any requirements regarding sulfate in wastewater discharge?
There are no requirements for sulfate; only requirements apply to sulfides.
Wastewater discharge only has requirements for pH and COD.

**The emission standards do not include requirements for the testing of sulfate, but they do have requirements for sulfides. For the first, second, and third-level emission standards, the value is 1.0 mg/l; the method used for measurement is the methylene blue spectrophotometry method, as specified in GB/T16489-1996

**There are no explicit provisions in the \"Comprehensive Wastewater Discharge Standards,\" but some local regulations do set such rules; for example, Shandong and Hebei provinces have established standards for the ion content in wastewater. Additionally, this becomes relevant when wastewater is to be reused; for use in industrial circulating water, it is necessary to meet the standards for circulating water quality, with the sum of sulfate ions and chloride ions being less than 1500 ppm – otherwise the requirements cannot be satisfied, as clearly stipulated in GB50050. Of course, when it is reused in other industries, there may also be some industry regulations; LZ should check again.
