Are there any new processes for producing fuming sulfuric acid using hydrogen sulfide, and where are they in use? Thank you all for sharing your opinions.
Sure. . . It is not economical for industrial use. . . H2S combustion. . SO2 is converted into SO3. . Absorbed by dilute sulfuric acid. . . .
I’ve never heard of hydrogen sulfide being used to produce fuming sulfuric acid. Sulfuric acid production from hydrogen sulfide using the WSA process can yield 98% sulfuric acid. Using hydrogen sulfide and sulfur together for acid production, fuming sulfuric acid and 98% sulfuric acid can be manufactured. Such as Sinopec Baling Branch’s 105kt/a sulfuric acid plant.
Banzhu is partially correct; the key issue is the water balance. As long as the gas concentration is high enough, or if a refrigeration unit is used to produce deep-cold water for cooling the flue gas, it is entirely possible to produce nicotinic acid. Our institute has already designed several such systems. If you’re interested, please send me the details regarding the hydrogen sulfide gas conditions first, so we can discuss it further.
If it is dry hydrogen sulfide gas, one H2S molecule reacts to produce one H2O molecule and one SO2 molecule. How can nicotinic acid be produced without adding SO2? Please advise!!!!
