I have been working on dynamic simulations using Aspen recently, but I am not very familiar with the functions of dynamic simulation and what objectives it is intended to achieve. For example, when a steady-state file is converted into a dynamic file and a controller is added, if simulation is carried out directly in the dynamic mode without making any changes, what is the difference between this situation and steady-state simulation? Also, in the controller of the dynamic simulation, is the setpoint value the value that the input signal is supposed to control, or is it merely an initial value that can change during the simulation? Could someone please give me some advice? Thank you
There is a big difference; dynamics use time as a parameter to calculate the changes in operational parameters at different times. Uncontrolled dynamic simulation still differs fundamentally from the steady state. As for the PID setpoint, it is recommended to refer to the relevant control manuals; to conduct dynamic simulations, one must at least understand the basic principles of control.

In one word, dynamics are composed of individual steady states, just like watching a movie. A movie is just a sequence of frames shown one after another; the dynamics are exactly the same.
