The motor manual states the following regarding the application of lubricant: for 2P motors, the amount of lubricant to be used is 1/2 of the net volume of the bearing chamber; for motors with 4P or more poles, the amount of lubricant is 2/3 of the net volume of the bearing chamber. What do the 2P and 4P mentioned above represent? Is it an extreme value? What does it have to do with the amount of oil in the motor? Please ask an expert to help answer!
It is the extreme value. The speed of a 2P motor is almost twice that of a 4P motor. Due to this high speed, the oil is stirred up, so there is no need to worry about insufficient lubrication. P is the number of poles; 2P and 4P refer to 2-pole and 4-pole motors respectively. Since the speed of a 2P motor is twice that of a 4P motor, less lubricant can be used inside the bearings
2P stands for a 2-pole motor, with a speed of nearly 3000 revolutions; 4P stands for a 4-pole motor, with a speed of nearly 1500 revolutions. As for the relationship between the motor speed and the amount of lubricant needed, and whether motors with higher speeds are more likely to form an oil film and thus require less lubricant, I think it would be better to ask the motor manufacturer for a more accurate answer.
Different types of motors require different greases
It is due to the motor speed: for 2P motors, the speed is 3000 rpm at 50 Hz and 3600 rpm at 60 Hz; for 4P motors, the speed is 1500 rpm at 50 Hz and 1800 rpm at 60 Hz. The higher the rotational speed, the better the lubrication performance, so less grease is required for motors with lower speeds.
