What type of valve should be used for the bypass of a safety valve? I’ve seen some use ball valves, some use globe valves, and others use plug valves. What valve should be used exactly? Please give me some advice
Personally, I think gate valves are better. Gate valves have too much resistance, while ball valves are more expensive

The safety valve bypass must be able to cut off flow when the safety valve is in operation, and it must also be capable of controlling flow when the safety valve is removed from the system; therefore, a globe valve is generally the best choice. However, if the pipe diameter is very large, a gate valve can be considered, as it serves a function similar to that of a control valve bypass. Additionally, if the medium has special requirements, such as containing solid particles, ball valves can be used, which is usually specified in the pipeline classification.
We generally use throttle-shutoff vent valves. The reason is that the valve cores of ordinary valves are not suitable; the flow velocity during venting is generally around 150 m/s. The valve cores of throttle-stop vent valves are better and provide adequate protection.
I believe that a comprehensive consideration of the pressure to be withstood, the properties of the medium, and cost is necessary; it’s difficult to say definitively which type of valve is the most suitable.
