In the latest 2008 version of the petrochemical standards, the unit of measurement for this parameter is now expressed as “density/(kg/m3)”, whereas it was previously “density, kg/m3”. Why was this change made? The previous way of expression was excellent and very concise; I couldn’t find any basis for it. The GB/T3101 and GB/T1.1 series have not been revised. Please advise. I think it might be a printing or formatting error, as it doesn’t hold any real significance. There shouldn’t be much of a problem.
Agree with the opinion above. This change doesn’t mean anything.
I’m not sure if the kind of change mentioned by the original poster refers to the way quantities and units are expressed in the technical specifications. If so, the wording in the standard is correct. One can refer to GB/T 1.1-2000; section 6.6.5.4 describes table headers as follows: “The units used in a particular column should generally be indicated below the name of the quantity in that column’s header (see also 6.6.9.1.2).” Section 6.6.9.1.2 states that: “The following numerical notations are particularly suitable for use on the axes of graphs and in table headers: … v/(km/h), l/m, t/s.” In this sense, previous standards may not have taken these details into account when they were developed. Thank you for the reminder. I’ve read this part, but I still don’t understand why it needs to be expressed in that way; it seems complicated and unreasonable. The format and wording of the GB standard are currently chaotic, and it is frequently revised, making it difficult to follow. I urge the guys at the National Standards Committee to stop causing trouble – President Hu has already given orders to avoid any further disruptions.
I think it might be a typo; there might not be any real difference. Standards are also created by humans, and they too may make mistakes or fail to pay attention. Besides, what we do here isn’t in the humanities; there’s no need to get overly pedantic about it – as long as everyone understands what it means. That’s what an individual thinks. But it would be even better if they could be unified!
