I’m in my junior year now and will graduate next year. The major I studied at school was Industrial Engineering, based on mechanical manufacturing. My family produces shrink films, and for this reason, I want to apply the skills I’ve acquired in my field of study to my family’s small factory. As we all know, it’s impossible to make use of advanced manufacturing techniques at home if one doesn’t understand shrink films; therefore, I plan to spend a year – I have three more semesters before graduating – learning everything related to shrink films. I hope the seniors can support me; it would be great if we could become friends. Shrink film 1. Definition of heat shrink film Shrink film is used in the sales and transportation of various products. Its main function is to stabilize, cover, and protect the product. Shrink film must have high puncture resistance, good shrinkability, and a certain level of shrink stress. During contraction, the film must not develop pores. Since shrink film is often used outdoors, UV stabilizers need to be added. 2. Classification of heat shrink film PE/PVC/POF shrink film PE heat shrink film is widely used for the bulk packaging of products such as alcoholic beverages, canned goods, mineral water, various drinks, and fabrics. It possesses good flexibility, strong resistance to impacts and tears, is not prone to damage, is resistant to moisture, and has a high shrinkage rate ; PVC film features high transparency, good gloss, and a high shrinkage rate ; POF features high surface gloss, good toughness, high tear resistance, uniform heat shrinkage, and suitability for fully automatic high-speed packaging; it represents an upgrade to traditional PVC heat shrink film. POF stands for heat shrink film. Its full name is multi-layer co-extruded polyolefin heat shrink film; it is made by using linear low-density polyethylene as the intermediate layer (LLDPE), while polypropylene (PP) is used for the inner and outer layers. The material is plasticized and extruded using three extruders, and then processed through special techniques such as die forming and film inflation. 3. Features of the heat shrinker The heat shrink packaging machine uses far-infrared radiation to directly heat the PVC/POP shrink film, achieving perfect shrink packaging without affecting the packaged items. It features electronic stepless speed control and a solid-state voltage regulator for temperature control, ensuring stability and reliability. It is used for shrink packaging of foods, beverages, candies, stationery, hardware tools, daily necessities, chemical products, and more. The product is covered with shrink wrap, sealed, and then fed into the shrink packaging machine, where it will contract automatically. 4. Differences between heat shrink film and wrapping film 4.1 Differences between shrink film and wrapping film Shrink film is designed to be used with a heat shrink machine; it has a relatively thin texture. When the heat shrink machine is turned on and air is blown onto the shrink film, it contracts. If operated properly, the result will be excellent in appearance ; The wrapping film is relatively soft and is used for wrapping around the outside during support installation. What is learned in university is not just theoretical knowledge; I believe you can also master membrane-related technologies through practical application on your own – it’s definitely possible. Many people end up working in fields that are not related to their major after graduation, yet they still manage to become experts in those areas!

I am extremely grateful for everyone’s concern and advice. Over the past few days I have bought many books on films used for clinker packaging and have been studying them; now I’m starting to get a handle on it. Actually, I don’t need to know that much; it’s mainly the formula for the ingredients that matters. The idea for the 3rd floor is great, haha – starting with mechanical design, hehe; really impressive. What is taught in universities is indeed only superficial; any specialized course is merely based on a textbook, with learning centered around that book – it doesn’t provide much practical value. It seems that true learning takes place in one’s own workplace. I have studied management, operations research, engineering economics, and so on; I am currently taking a course in marketing as well.
In fact, universities mainly focus on developing the ability to learn independently, the ability to acquire knowledge, and communication skills; how much knowledge can be gained from textbooks is not the most important thing.
