What a joke! Who told you that methanol is suitable for consumption? Methanol is highly toxic; please don’t harm others or yourself. Methanol storage tanks are made of carbon steel, and no internal anti-corrosion treatment is required

Generally speaking, methanol has very low corrosivity. I’m not sure what the concentration of methanol is in your case; if there is water or other impurities present, it’s better to implement anti-corrosion measures to prevent the tank from being corroded, and also to avoid contamination of the methanol by corrosion products. I haven’t done anything regarding the inner walls, but I have applied coatings to the outer walls as well as used external current cathodic protection for the tank bottom (for tanks of 250,000 tons capacity). I’m not sure what the purpose of this setup is for the person who asked the question

The poster must be mistaken! It’s ethanol they’re talking about; chemical passivation of the inner wall of the methanol tank is sufficient
